Forward Joe Malkin has signed a new contracted committing his future to Nantwich Town, the club has announced.
Malkin (pictured) joined the club in the summer from Cammell Laird and scored five goals in December.
The 20-year-old has signed a contract with a two-year option, securing his future at the club as the Dabbers look to continue their push for promotion.
Malkin said: “It’s an exciting time for me, I can only thank Dave [Cooke] for giving me the chance to be where I am now.
“It’s only a bonus to be around players with such quality, they’ve taught me a lot since I’ve arrived, and I’m very excited for the future.
“Hopefully, we can clinch promotion and test ourselves in the next division up, as the ground and facilities are excellent and most of the players and staff have worked at a higher level.
“I’d like to keep learning and improving and I think that will be best achieved at Nantwich.”
Nantwich’s push for promotion suffered a New Year setback when they were beaten 1-0 at home by local rivals Witton Albion.
Will Jones scored the only goal of the game in the 69th minute in front of a bumper 950 supporters at the Weaver Stadium.
The Dabbers huffed and puffed but their usual clinical touch in front of goal was missing as Witton blunted the league leaders.
It was only Nantwich’s fourth defeat of the season and they remain in top spot in Evo-Stik Premier Division, but only one point clear of in-form Farsley Celtic and Warrington Town who have games in hand.
