The boss of a Nantwich salon has warned other outlets in the town after an attempted distraction theft by two men.
The incident happened at the Coco beauty salon on Mill Street when two men described as “foreign” in appearance entered the store.
Salon owner Sarah Laisby said one of the men placed some leaflets on a table on top of a mobile phone, then picked them up again and the phone had gone.
Sarah added: “One of our clients saw him do it so as he walked out she asked if that was his phone.
“It belonged to one of our therapists who ran after him and asked for it back!
“He said he needed to ring his mother and she said not on my phone and he actually gave it back which I was very shocked about.
“Shortly after another man with very broken English tried to come in the salon again but was asked to leave!
“Luckily we got the phone back but just warning other businesses in town.”
Sarah reported the incident to Nantwich Police shortly after 3pm on Wednesday (July 10).
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said they are hoping to identify the men using CCTV in the area.
“Officers received a report of an attempted theft on Mill Street, Nantwich,” he added.
“Anyone with information is asked to call Cheshire Police quoting incident number IML 452162.”
