Second-half - first Nantwich Town goal - Joe Malkin celebrates scoring (1)

Nantwich Town moved up to fourth place in Bet Victor Northern Premier League after a fine 3-1 victory over third-placed Matlock Town.

Two goals from the prolific Dabbers striker Joe Malkin helped Nantwich come from behind to secure three points at the Weaver Stadium.

Matlock had taken the lead on 39 minutes through Jordan Sinnott and they held on to that lead until the break.

Dave Cooke’s men came out firing in the second period, and only took six minutes to level when Malkin latched on to Webb’s ball and fired home.

Malkin doubled his tally and gave Nantwich the lead on 72 minutes.

Sean Cooke’s initial shot was parried by Stewart in the Matlock nets.

Man of the match Malkin was first to react and he dinked his effort over the keeper into the net.

And Nantwich sealed ll the points in injury time with skipper Caspar Hughes continued his fine scoring run this season.

Hughes was on hand to tap home Jimmy Lawrie’s pass with the keeper caught off his line as the visitors pushed for a leveller.

Nantwich are now level with Matlock and a point behind second placed Whitby Town.

The Dabbers return to FA Cup action this weekend when they welcome Morpeth to the Weaver Stadium in the third qualifying round.
