Bridge Inn moved to top spot in the Crewe Regional Sunday League Division One after beating Sydney Arms.
In only one of three matches scheduled to play, Bridge triumphed 6-3.
Initially, Cheshire East Council called off all three matches, but league official Des Evans intervened to ensure two games took place.
It was Sydney Arms’ first game at their new venue at Forge Fields in Wheelock.
The win takes Bridge Inn to top place level on points with The Old Star but with a superior goal difference and having played a game less.
Their goals were scored by Joe Bell (2), Owen Porter, Josh Wynne, Graham Maskery and 40-year-old Andy Tebay.
For Sydney Arms, leading goal scorer Ben Reddock netted two, with regular marksman Aaron Davies also on target.
In the other game, C & N Utd and Audlem played out a 1-1 draw.
Audlem took an early lead through veteran Andy Betteley, but the home team equalised before half time through leading goal scorer Alex Riley.
