Residents on a Nantwich housing estate woke to the drama of an armed police raid today.
Witnesses say they saw as many as 10 armed police officers involved in a raid at a house on Mallard Avenue, on the Malbank Waters estate.
The incident began at around 6.15am when several police vehicles pulled up outside one of the properties.
A second property on Queens Drive was also raided.
One resident living nearby who saw it unfold said: “There were five police cars and at least 10 officers – they were there for at least 2 hours. We saw them bring out one man.
“The local authority needs to clamp down on the problems that have been taking place over the last four years with drugs and anti social behaviour.
“Local residents have made numerous complaints to the housing people with no actions ever being finished.
“It’s time for the council to stop using the social housing to dump their problem residents off their books and forget about them, leaving residents that have purchased their properties to endure the fall out from them.”
It’s believed the property involved belongs to Aspire Housing Association, but this has not been confirmed.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At 6am on Friday 12 June, police executed a warrant at an address on Mallard Avenue and at an address on Queens Drive in Nantwich.
“Officers conducted full searches of the properties. No arrests have been made.”
