Pupils at Wistaston Academy are enjoying a new-look reception outdoor area and climbing wall.
The school devised a comprehensive and innovative plan to upgrade the area during the pandemic.
It secured funding and also received a £400 donation from nearby housebuilder Bellway towards the project.
This helped the school purchase resources to create a climbing wall.
The wall will be used during Free Flow, at playtime/lunchtime as well as in PE lessons.
It was delivered during lockdown and built by the school maintenance manager, James Lea.
Now reception pupils have started to use and enjoy this latest piece of equipment.
Dominique Griffiths, Principal at Wistaston Academy, said: “Bellway’s generous donation towards our reception outdoor project was gratefully received.
“The climbing wall is a super addition to the area and the children love playing on it.
“The pandemic has had an impact on the available opportunities for children to play and learn outdoors.
“As pupils returned to school after this latest lockdown, our improved outdoor area will be integral to enabling key experiences and opportunities for our children to be physically active to promote their mental health and wellbeing.”
