A popular bar and restaurant in Nantwich has closed its doors suddenly.
The Wilbraham Arms, on Welsh Row, was closed yesterday (February 23) at short notice.
Stunned regulars were told of the news today.
A tweet on the Wilbraham Arms account says: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to close the Wilbrahams with immediate effect. Thank you for your loyal custom.”
Customers were shocked.
One said: “It seems a shame as it’s usually busy and I know friends who go regularly.”
Another added: “That’s a shame. I thought it was a fairly decent venue. It always looked busy.”
The building was re-opened by Enterprise Inns back in 2013.
A spokesperson for Enterprise Inns told Nantwichnews: “We can confirm that The Wilbraham Arms has closed due to the publican’s sudden decision to cease trading.
“We are currently in discussions with them regarding this great community pub, and aim to have it back open and trading as soon as possible.”
On a positive note the new look and feel of the wilbraham bar and grill is fantastic looking forwards to its opening day.
Google Enterprise Inns and see their reputation but in fairness google a bit more and you’ll find that this is a bit of a pattern e.g,

Probably the Pubco’s usual trick – let a new landlord settle in for a year then massively increase the rent.
Rather a hasty judgement, could be anything, illness, change of circumstance. Very sad to see it closed.
Can’t say I am surprised. The place only reopened about a year ago after the previous owners went bust.
