Shavington’s 2014 pantomime Robin Hood has been voted best amateur panto in the North West by the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.
Members of Shavington Village Festival Committee were presented with the award at a gala ceremony in Manchester in front of more than 500 delegates.
It is the fourth time the Shavington Pantomime has been nominated for the top award with four different directors.
But this is their first time claiming the top spot.
The competition was fierce, with more than 40 pantomimes in the running from the NODA North West Region – stretching from Cumbria, through Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.
A spokesman said Shavington Village Festival Committee has been staging an annual pantomime for 38 years and has always prided itself on the professionalism of its productions.
“It is a true community event, with around 50 adults and children on stage with an equal number working behind the scenes on costumes, props, scenery, make-up, stage crew and all the other activities associated with a successful production.”
