The new Crewe Engineering and Design UTC has been granted planning permission to allow construction to begin.
The new £10.6 million University Technical College will regenerate the heart of Crewe, with building work on the Victoria Centre, West Street campus starting in January next year.
David Terry, Principal of Crewe Engineering and Design UTC, said: “The strength of demand for the UTC from the local area is very strong.
“We’ve seen that at our open days, where hundreds of students and parents have attended, allowing us to share our vision for the future.
“Now we have successfully passed the planning approval stages, we look ahead to starting construction and laying the foundations for engineering and design.
“By bringing our proposals to life, we will create an aspirational environment which will incorporate the latest technology and equipment to give our leaners a head start within the business and higher educational world.”
Courses delivered on the campus will offer pathways for 14-18 year olds, alongside business and academic partners such as Bentley Motors, Manchester Metropolitan University, Siemens, Bosch, OSL Rail, General Electrics, Chevron Racing, Optical 3D and Cheshire East Council.
Organisations involved in developing the school are shaping vocational education curriculum, alongside Mr Terry.
A team of teachers, with engineering and design industry experience, will join next year.
