Nantwich Food Festival is to stage an Online Festival 2020 in place of the cancelled real event.
Festival directors decided in May that this year’s event scheduled for September had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
They said it was made as “the health and safety of all those involved in the event has to be our top priority”.
Now in a bid to support their regular exhibitors, many of whom have had a difficult year due to lockdown and cancelled events, they are have developed an online festival initiative.
It aims to promote exhibitors who are selling products online and help them keep going until they are able to resume normal trading.
The festival attracts more than 40,000 visitors to Nantwich every September and is an important boost to the local economy.
The online festival also includes many local businesses, which are starting to re-open, selling online, or offering take-away and delivery services.
Food Festival director Nanna Pedley said: “We know that many of our regular visitors will be disappointed about the cancellation of this year’s festival.
“We hope that by running an online version over the coming months, we can not only help people shop for their festival favourites, but also support our exhibitors, sponsors and local businesses through this difficult period.
“And we will be back together with everyone, for our best festival yet in 2021!”
