Dear Editor,
I am writing as a deeply concerned member of the public regarding the continued and extraordinary delay to the A51 Reaseheath spine road — the new north–south bypass intended to serve the Kingsbourne development in Nantwich and connect the A51, B5074, Nantwich Bypass and Barony Road near Reaseheath College.

Nantwich Town councillors have agreed to end their lease on Brookfield Hall in Nantwich early to save funds.

The building, next to Brookfield Park off Shrewbridge Road, has been leased by Nantwich Town Council from Cheshire East for many years.

No tickets for HGVs breaching Baddington Bridge weight limit

Nantwich Police say they are unaware of any tickets being issued for heavy goods vehicles breaching the weight limit on Baddington Bridge.

The bridge on the A530 Whitchurch Road just outside Nantwich has had a 7.5 tonne weight limit on it since late September.

John Broadhurst-Dodd appeared at Chester Crown Court today (December 19) where he was sentenced to 37 months in prison and handed six restraining orders against him.

A Nantwich swimmer has raised £380 for the Wishing Well charity after completing a challenge to swim the equivalent length of the English Channel.

Ethan Carroll, 23, who is on the autistic spectrum, took on the marathon challenge during his weekly sessions at Crewe Lifestyle Centre with Seahorse Swimming Club.

Cheshire Police is pressing ahead with controversial plans to slash the number of PCSO posts across the county by 70%, despite a public backlash.

In a letter, Assistant Chief Constable Alison Ross said that following conclusion of the internal consultation “the proposal to reduce the number of PCSO (police community support officer) posts from 87 to 27 will now be progressed”.

Highways bosses at Cheshire East Council have laid the blame for the A51 Reaseheath bypass delay firmly at the developers’ door.

In a statement finally issued today – a week after Nantwich News contacted the council – they said delays were down to a lack of “highways agreements” to allow the road to be adopted.
