Reaseheath students’ insect home receives Royal seal of approval

Animal Management students at Reaseheath College in Nantwich have received royal approval after they built a palatial home for insects.

The students modelled “Bug’ingham Palace” on the Queen’s London residence and built it from packing cases, wood offcuts, chicken wire, branches and foliage from native trees.

Cheshire East borough chiefs are being asked to reconsider a decision not to introduce a “late night levy” to bring in additional cash for police and the council.

Councils have had the power to implement a late night levy since 2011 – meaning an additional fee would be charged to licenced premises that can sell alcohol between midnight and 6am.

Members of five Rotary Clubs in Crewe and Nantwich teamed up to support victims of the Beechmere care home blaze in Crewe.

They volunteered to help residents in managing huge donations of food, clothing, toiletries and equipment and in providing Sunday lunches in collaboration with Hopes and Beams.
