Cheshire East Council has been forced to scrap plans for an alternative provision school in Crewe because the DfE won’t engage with the council over a timeline for the scheme.

The children and families committee voted in favour of pulling the plug on plans to demolish the former Crewe Baths at Flag Lane and replace it with a school for excluded pupils.

A festive charity album created by South Cheshire musicians has raised more than £400 for RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange wildlife centre.

Christmas Tails, released in November and on sale until the end of January, has raised an impressive £411.29 for the London Road centre, beating the total raised by a similar Christmas album in 2023.
