Thousands of visitors enjoy ‘Marbury Merry Days’ festival

Thousands of people enjoyed the 42nd ‘Marbury Merry Days’ two-day traditional country fair in fine weather.

The fair is organised by St Michael & All Angels Parochial Church Council and takes places every May in the field next to St Michael & All Angels Parish Church and Marbury Big Mere, just three from Wrenbury, near Nantwich.

Community stalwart Geoff Parsons MBE is to retire as chairman of the board of trustees for The Wingate Special Children’s Trust at the end of the year.

The new on-demand bus service ‘go-too’ is proving just the ticket for people in rural areas around Nantwich after clocking up its 10,000th passenger journey.

Twenty local residents have objected to plans to extend the licensing hours at Combermere Abbey Wedding Venue near Wrenbury, saying they are already disturbed by the late night noise.

The venue on Combermere Park Drive is currently licensed for events such as plays, dance performances, films, live and recorded music, as well as late night refreshment and the supply of alcohol.
