A Remembrance Day service in Wistaston helped to raise £357 for the Royal British Legion.
Wistaston Memorial Hall and Community Centre on Church Lane were filled to capacity for the November 11 Service of Remembrance – the centenary of the end of First World War.

Volunteers for Wistaston in Bloom have blossomed this year after scooping the village’s first ever Gold Award at the ‘Britain in Bloom’ (North West) 2018 awards.
They received their certificate at a ceremony at the Southport Convention Centre on November 2.

The annual ‘Holly Fair’ took place at Wells Green Methodist Church on Brookland Avenue in Wistaston.
In the entrance hall there was a Fairtrade goods stall with food items, a hamper to be raffled, a book stall and Christmas cards for sale.

The 41st annual Wistaston Fireworks Display took place at the Eric Swan Sports Ground off Church Lane in Wistaston, writes Jonathan White.
It began with a parade – led by bagpiper Reg Flower and drummer Rob Richardson – from the Park Drive/Westfield Drive junction to the Eric Swan Sports Ground.
A street light left in a busy Wistaston road by developers is still there – despite council bosses pledging it would be removed “as a matter of urgency” two weeks ago.
Now a local pro-cycling group has hit out at Cheshire East highways, who say they are “satisfied” the light has been safely cordoned off.

Sixteen teams battled it out over six rounds of ten questions at Wistaston Memorial Hall’s Annual Quiz.
The teams were competing for the Fred Lorimer trophy, and quiz masters were Peter and Christina Wainwright.

Wistaston Singers and The Kipling Singers took part in an evening concert at Union Street Baptist Church in Crewe.
Wistaston Singers performed music including West Side Story, Anything Goes, Unchained Melody, Sanctus, The Lord is My Shepherd, You Raise Me Up, and Flying Free.

The 23rd Annual Community Duck Race and Children’s Model Boat Race took place at the Joey the Swan Recreation ground, with guests of honour the Rose Queen Poppy Bellingham and her Consort.
