Wistaston woman smashes fundraiser target in Cancer Research challenge

A Wistaston woman has raised £865 for Cancer Research UK after completing a month-long walking challenge in September – smashing her original fundraising goal.

Anne Garner, who works as a Learning Mentor at Cheshire College – South & West in Crewe, took part in the national “Walk 30 Miles Challenge”.

Cash-strapped Cheshire East wants residents to complete a ‘budget prioritisation survey’ as the council faces a £33 million funding gap for the next financial year.

Deputy leader Michael Gorman (Wilmslow, Ind) said a report to the corporate policy committee on the budget setting process for revealed, at that point, the funding gap was £33 million without any support from government.
