Fire crews were called out in the middle of the night to help rescue a cow stranded in a river near Nantwich.
The incident happened in the River Weaver off Coole Lane in Austerson.

I read this article with a mixture of relief and despair; relief that at two dangerous routes have been reinstated to the Cheshire East Council’s gritting routes but despair that so many routes have been effectively ignored.

Coole Lane between Nantwich and Audlem which was axed from Cheshire East’s winter gritting programme have been re-instated following a number of accidents.
The route will be gritted again following six incidents, and is one of two to be reinstated including Brook Street in Macclesfield.
