A 188-home scheme for Nantwich which has been in the pipeline for more than 10 years has been approved.
Cheshire East’s strategic planning board was unanimous in giving the thumbs up for the reserved matters application from David Wilson Homes and Muller for the phase one development on land at Peter Destapleigh Way in Stapeley.

A developer has relocated a play area and replaced a proposed community orchard with allotments to address concerns raised about a controversial 188-home scheme planned for Nantwich.
Cheshire East’s planning officers had recommended councillors on the strategic planning board approve the reserved matters application from David Wilson Homes and Muller for phase one development on land at Peter Destapleigh Way at Stapeley at its meeting in January.
Motorists in Nantwich are being warned about a number of roadworks on busy routes in and around the town next week (Feb 21-25).
Peter Destapleigh Way/Elwood Way in Stapeley will be closed in evenings and through the night all week, and Millstone Lane will also be closed for around two weeks.
A Cheshire East Cabinet councillor has vowed “very serious action” after trees blocking a proposed controversial “Nantwich South” access road were hacked down. Cllr David Brown said they are looking at whether the council’s environmental conditions have been breached.
The first phase of a massive 1,100-home “Nantwich South” village in Stapeley has been kicked out by Cheshire East councillors. But campaigners are angry a second application for an access road was deferred after oak trees were chopped down just hours before the planning meeting.
Planners say developer Muller Property’s first phase of a 1,100-home “Nantwich South” village should be refused. Muller’s initial application is for 189 homes and access road into the site between Peter Destapleigh Way, Broad Lane and London Road.
A busy road in Nantwich was closed off after dangerous gas cylinders fell off a lorry. The incident happened as the HGV was driving down Peter Destapleigh Way in Stapeley.
Stapeley families are invited to join in the parish’s first annual Christmas Carol concert later this month. The event will be held at the Cronkinson Farm pub (pictured), off Peter Destapleigh Way, from 6.30pm onwards on Wednesday December 21.
Campaigners fighting to prevent more housing development in the Stapeley area of Nantwich have launched a new website to encourage others to join the protest. The site, www.protectstapeley.org.uk, highlights fears over potential development of 1,300 homes on land between Broad Lane, London Road, Peter De Stapleigh Way, and the bridleway known as Deadman’s Lane.
