Highways chiefs in Cheshire East have almost doubled the number of pothole repair teams in a bid to tackle the rapid rise in road defects.
Drivers are faced with hundreds of potholes on many journeys around Crewe and Nantwich, with major roads also badly affected.
A £3 million Highways Agency project to repair bridges over the M6 motorway in South Cheshire starts this week.
And it will mean the full closure of southbound and northbound carriageways on some days.

The pothole-ridden A500 Shavington bypass near Nantwich is to close for two days to allow for urgent repairs. The eastbound lane heading away from Nantwich towards the M6 will be closed between 9.30am and 4pm on Thursday March 14.
More repairs are being carried out on the Holland & Barrett store in Nantwich – almost two years since dramatic “slippage” incident. Work is currently ongoing on the premises’ weight-bearing walls and internal joists up to the top (fourth) floor.
