Covid-19 vaccine supplies in Cheshire East will be “throttled back” to allow other parts of the country “to catch up”.
That’s according to Cheshire East Council leader Sam Corcoran, who made his comments during his leaders’ address at a full council meeting and on Twitter today (February 19)

Nearly nine in 10 of Cheshire and Merseyside’s over-75 population received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine by the end of last month.
That’s according to the latest weekly data released by NHS England today (February 4).
Ten per cent of Cheshire East residents have ‘already’ had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, according to Cheshire East Council leader Sam Corcoran.
His comments come as it emerged health chiefs are looking into opening a mass Covid-19 vaccination centre for Cheshire.

The Labour leader said today there have been 13,930 confirmed Covid-19 cases in Cheshire East — an increase of 275 from the day before.

Cheshire East Council leader Sam Corcoran says the authority will remain “dedicated to minimising the impact on the most vulnerable” when finalising its financial plans.
He added that the Covid pandemic has put the council “under acute financial pressure”.
Cheshire East Council has warned the number of Covid-19 cases could see the borough facing further strict restrictions when the national lockdown ends.
However, in the past week cases in the area have dropped from 248 new cases per 100,000 people to 191 per 100,000, according to the latest stats.
Crewe and Nantwich Labour party leaders say they have “deep concern” over the impact of new lockdown measures imposed on Cheshire East.
The borough alongside Cheshire West is being placed into ‘Tier 2’ restrictions from tomorrow (Wednesday Oct 14).

Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan has called on the government to “work harder on explaining and justifying the steps it is taking” when it comes to coronavirus restrictions.
Dr Mullan made the plea during a parliamentary debate on measures for the north of England.
