Nantwich Council staff were verbally abused as they installed ‘social distancing’ reminder signs on town centre benches, councillors were told.

Staff this week fixed the signage to many of the benches around the town square following concerns that too many people were breaching lockdown rules and gathering in groups.

An authority’s plan to cash-in on advertising space on Nantwich roundabouts could pose a danger to drivers, councillors have warned.

ANSA, Cheshire East Council’s environmental services arm, wants to offer sponsorship signs on three roundabouts on major routes in and out of the town.

New signs and a wooden swan sculpture have been unveiled to the public at Nantwich Lake.

The project was a joint venture between Cheshire East Council, Ansa Environmental Services Ltd, RSPCA and the Dog’s Trust.

People are being invited to a day of celebration at Nantwich Lake to see new information signs and a swan sculpture unveiled.

The event, from 11am to 3pm on Tuesday April 7, has been organised by Cheshire East Council with the help of Ansa Environmental Services Limited, the RSPCA and The Dogs Trust.
