People are being invited to a day of celebration at Nantwich Lake to see new information signs and a swan sculpture unveiled.
The event, from 11am to 3pm on Tuesday April 7, has been organised by Cheshire East Council with the help of Ansa Environmental Services Limited, the RSPCA and The Dogs Trust.
RPSCA chiefs are hoping to erect warning signs around Nantwich Lake after a popular young cygnet was attacked and killed by a dog. The cygnet and its parents have been a regular attraction around the lake and riverside over the summer.
A baby swan witnessed by many walking near Nantwich Riverside and lake in the summer, has been killed. It’s feared the popular cygnet, the only survivor of three eggs from a nest of mating swans on Mill Island, was attacked by a dog.
Two well-known Nantwich residents are celebrating the arrival of a newborn! The River Weaver at Mill Island in the town has played home to two mating swans over the past few weeks.
These pictures captured the moment rescuers battled through icy waters to save a swan in Nantwich Lake. The swan had become distressed after a freak incident involving a dog being walked around the lake on the A530 Park Road.
