A 26-year-old man has been arrested and released on police bail in connection with a serious assault in Nantwich.
The attack is believed to have occurred outside the Pizza Parlour takeaway in the Swine Market area of Nantwich.
Union bosses in Cheshire have launched a petition to save Nantwich Jobcentre threatened with closure.
The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) in Cheshire say the centre, on Swine Market, must remain open.
Firefighters who tackled a blaze which swept through the Pizza Parlour takeaway in Nantwich today say it was accidental. Crews from Nantwich and Crewe were called out at about 8.20am and found the blaze sweeping through the ground floor on Beam Street.
Nantwich Town councillors were accused of “lacking a vision” by Cheshire East Leader Cllr Michael Jones. In a swipe at the town’s authority, Cllr Jones said they had not “created a vision” for the town’s future, unlike places like Knutsford, Macclesfield and Crewe.
Nantwich police made 18 arrests as drunken youths marred the success of the town’s Jazz, Blues and Music Festival. Officers also issued 13 section 27 orders against yobs, banning them from entering the town for specified periods.
Fire crews believe vandals set a bin ablaze in a busy area of Nantwich town centre. The blaze happened on Swine Market, with one crew from nearby Beam Street station tackling the incident.
Police had to seal off a Nantwich town centre route after an accident involving a bus and a car. The incident happened at corner where Swine Market meets High Street.
