Nantwich CC took a giant stride towards retaining the Cheshire County Premier League title with victory over nearest rivals Chester Boughton Hall.

With just five poitns separating top of the table Nantwich and their visitors, it was a crucial clash for both sides at Whitehouse Lane.

And once again Nantwich’s bowling attack came up trumps, despite Chester winning the toss and deciding the bat.

The visitors were reduced to 42 for 7 as Jimmy Warrington led the charge and ripped through Chester’s batting order.

Only Eddie Roberts batting at no 8 stood firm and top scored with 34. Ollie Thompson (20) and Jack Williams helped the visitors scramble to 111 all out.

Warrington once again took the bowling honours, returning 6 wickets for just 31.

In reply, Jonathon Kettle laid the foundations with a solid 39, during which he passed 1000 league runs for the season.

Glen Batticciotti added 29 as the home side reached their target for the loss of 4 wickets.

Alex Kegg was pick of Chester’s bowlers with 3 for 46 as his side earned just four points, Nantwich collecting a maximum haul of 25 points.

With just two weeks’ of fixtures left, Nantwich are now firmly in the box seat.
