Hundreds of young book fans are being rewarded at Nantwich Library after completing a summer reading scheme.

A series of presentations have been taking place at the library this week to celebrate children who took part in the Circus Stars reading challenge.

More than 520 youngsters  participated, which saw them read six books during the school holidays and gain stickers and prizes.

The latest crop gathered at the Beam Street library last night (September 20) to receive their medals and certificates from Nantwich MP Edward Timpson.

Two children also won prizes after being drawn out of a hat from those who took part in a special treasure hunt.

Mr Timpson paid tribute to parents and library staff for helping so many complete the challenge.

“I love reading, and as I have three children I know how much youngsters get out of reading a good book,” he said.

“It’s great fun and well done to all those who participated, in particular parents and staff at the library for organising the challenge.”
