Nantwich in Bloom volunteers are already working hard to impress judges in the UK finals of Britain in Bloom.

Nantwich scooped the gold medal at the North West in Bloom awards ceremony in Southport, winning the town section and the nomination to represent the region in Britain in Bloom.

And Nantwich in Bloom’s Doug Butterill told Nantwichnews: “We have started our winter bedding schemes to be followed by wild flower planting in early November then tree planting in early December all on Nantwich Riverside.

“RHS judges are due to visit the town incognito in April and again in August when we will have a chance to show off our summer displays and explain about the wonderful community involvement.”

Cllr Rod Menlove, Cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: “Well done to the people of Cheshire East, who have worked extremely hard to keep their towns and villages looking so attractive.

“I would also like to thank the work of our Streetscape team which has played its part in these successes.

“When our towns and villages win awards like this, it just goes to prove furthermore that Cheshire East has much to be proud of and I wish Nantwich in Bloom every success in the Britain in Bloom finals.”
