Nantwich drivers are being warned of delays as work continues on the town’s Wellington Road level crossing.
The A530 main road in and out of town by Nantwich station is closed all weekend to allow rail engineers to complete the work.
Cheshire East Council transport is warning of “severe” impact in other parts of Nantwich as diversions have been set up in and around the town.
Road signs are in place to warn drivers on all approaches of the closure and displaying the diversion route.
Diversions are sending drivers down London Road, along Peter de Stapleigh Way, and to the traffic lights with Audlem Road opposite Brine Leas School.
Works are due to be completed on Sunday night and the road re-opened for Monday morning’s peak hour traffic.
