Students are hoping they will be music to the ears when they perform at the opening of a new Royal Rose Garden in Wistaston.
A-Level students from South Cheshire College will help celebrate the garden’s unveiling on June 8 as part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The outdoor event at the Rising Sun pub, off Middlewich Road, will give the group a chance to showcase their talents with a series of solo classical and pop performances.
Students will be doing vocal pieces and instrumental sets on the guitar and flute at the ceremony which is being opened by the Queen’s official representative, the Lord Lieutenant David Briggs MBE.
The college students will be performing along with a brass band from Shavington High School and a local school choir.
Music A-Level student Peter O’Connor will be playing his guitar.
The 18-year-old from Crewe said: “This is a great opportunity to perform and get some experience of performing live before we all head off to university or into the world of work. We all can’t wait to help out.”
Anna Wootton, Music Lecturer at South Cheshire College, said: “We feel very honoured that South Cheshire College students have been invited to contribute to this exciting event.
“This is the perfect way for them to end an excellent year’s work and they are very much looking forward to it.”
