Drivers are being urged to avoid the M6 in Cheshire after a multiple smash has closed the motorway near junction 16 for Nantwich.
The accident happened southbound involving heavy goods vehicles, several cars and a van.
It’s believed some people remained trapped in their vehicles.
Emergency services are at the scene and the motorway has been closed in both directions to get access.
It happened at about 11.23am today (Monday December 10).
Cheshire Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.
