A blaze has damaged a popular play centre in Shavington, near Nantwich.
Crews from Nantwich and Crewe were called out to tackle the fire which broke out at Playworld on Newcastle Road.
Four officers wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and one covering jet to extinguish the fire at around 5am today (April 22).
Gas and electric supplies were isolated and next door units were checked for smoke and heat travel using a thermal imaging camera.
It’s not clear how the incident happened.
Hundreds of families and children use the popular venue, which includes indoor and outdoor play equipment, function rooms and a coffee shop and seating for parents.
Owner Mandy Grinnell, from Stapeley, Nantwich, confirmed the venue would be closed until further notice and would be in contact with people who have booked parties.
“I am still waiting to find out the extent of the damage,” she said on Facebook.
“Playworld will be closed until further notice.
“I will be posting later when I know more particularly for those with parties booked as this is the most important thing for me at this point in time.
“Feeling very emotional at the moment but we will get through this.”
The nearby Esso garage and ABP Motors are open as normal.
