A Nantwich junior football team is hoping its new team kit will be the recipe for success next season.

Nantwich Pumas secured sponsorship of a new team kit from Marks & Spencer after one of their players won a competition.

And youngsters from the club called in to the Beam Street store in Nantwich to be presented with the new strip and M&S gift cards for half time drinks and snacks by store manager Michelle McMurray.

Graham Lawton, Pumas team manager, said: “Next season the team will be competing in the South Cheshire Youth League at Under 11 level.

“This means not only will we have a larger squad but are required to change our colours, resulting in the need for more kit.

“But we will also have to purchase our own goal posts, extra training equipment and find somewhere to host all our home matches.

“That’s why one of our players, George Clark, entered into this competition. The team looks really smart in the new strip and we’re proud to have the M&S logo on our shirts.

“I’m looking forward to the boys getting out onto the field and winning some games wearing it.”

Michelle, store manager of M&S Simply Food on Beam Street, said: “It’s fantastic to see these kits going to a good home.

“We are committed to working with the local community and it has been great to start this off by helping the Nantwich Pumas with their kit.

“I’m looking forward to getting to know people in the local community and hearing of the team’s progress over the coming months.”

M&S Simply Food Nantwich opened in April with 4,500 food and drink products for sale and a 50-seat indoor café and outside alfresco seating.
