The Wingate Centre in Wrenbury has been chosen as the Sainsbury’s Nantwich store’s charity of the year.

And fund-raising is off to a flying start by selling the store’s award-winning cheese at the Nantwich Show.

Store manager Ian Sutton presented Geoffrey Parsons, chairman of the trustees at the Wingate Centre, with a cheque for £1,300.

Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson was also present to show his support for the centre.

Mr Sutton said: “We already have a close link with the Wingate Centre and this is an excellent opportunity to make a considerable difference to the needs of this self-funded charity.

“We have a whole programme of fund-raising activities planned by each department in our store and colleagues are eager to make a difference to the lives of young people who use the centre.’
