Nantwich CC’s 1st and 2nd team clashes with Hyde were both affected by the rain.
The 1st team, looking to claw their way up the County Premier League, travelled to 5th-placed Hyde.
But their bowlers were soon under the cosh as the hosts’ batsmen built a big innings.
David Fitzsimmons was their star, smashing 97 not out. James Duffy (65) and Scott Kirwin (48) offered fine support as Hyde reached an impressive 303 for 5 off their 55 overs.
Liam Livingstone took 2 for 60, while Jimmy Warrington, George Newton and Chris Connolly grabbed a wicket apiece.
But even before Nantwich could get to the crease for their reply the rains came in and didn’t let up.
Eventually the umpires and the captains agreed the match had to be abandoned as a rain-affected draw. Hyde scored 11 points, Nantwich 7.
It was a similar story at Whitehouse Lane for Nantwich 2nds who entertained Hyde.
The visitors reached 201-8 from 50 overs, David Leighton starring with the bat on 68 not out.
Pick of the Nantwich attack was Ben Mogg who took five wickets for 94 from 21 overs.
This time, Nantwich did manage to start their reply and were going along reasonably well on 61-2 from 16 overs when the rain arrived.
David Hine had added 27 and Ollie Law was 15 not out before rain stopped play and umpires again had to abandon with no let up in the weather.
Nantwich 2nds remain third from bottom on 202 points, 41 ahead of Middlewich who occupy the second relegation spot.
