Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson hopes his side can improve their season following his first six months at the club.
Since joining the Dabbers in the summer after six years at league rivals Ashton United, Johnson has had a tough start at Nantwich.
But he has now settled in at the Weaver Stadium and remains optimistic about the future.
He said: “I’ve been here since May, so it feels like a lifetime.
“Things haven’t gone quite as I would have hoped. I failed to get the early season, tracked targets.
“We failed to get five or six of them and I think we would have been a different team if I had got those players.”
Johnson is confident that based on what he’s seen, the club only needs to find some more consistency to build on a run of results that has now seen them win four of their last five games.
He added: “I think we’re competing very, very well.
“We’re going to places like Fylde and we’re competing. We’re competing against the Chorleys of the world and the FC Uniteds.
“We’re not getting rolled over by anyone and we’re still in a transition stage.
“What we need to do now is make sure we gain a little bit of consistency.”
Stopping goals from going in at the wrong end has been a major concern for Johnson.
“We’ve struggled to keep clean sheets this season and that’s really disappointing for us.
“But to be fair when you look at the back four we haven’t had a settled back four all season.”
A string of injuries to players have hampered Nantwich Town’s attempts to put out the same back four every week, including a hip injury to captain Alex Frost.
Experienced centre-half Earl Davis is only just returning from a four week lay-off.
Tuesday night’s 5-0 victory over Leek Town in the Doodson Sport Cup was Nantwich’s first clean sheet for six games.
Johnson added: “That’s probably one of the major problems we’ve encountered this year and we’ve got to get over that.
“I’m still swapping and changing and trying to find the right formula and I’ll continue to do that until we can keep clean sheets on a regular basis.
“We’ve kept a clean sheet against a weakened Leek team but I’m not going to get carried away with that.
“It gives me something to think about because we’ve kept a clean sheet, but that’s the most pleasing part for now.”
Nantwich welcome Whitby Town to the Weaver Stadium tomorrow (Saturday November 23) in the Evo-Stik Premier League, kick off 3pm.
