Nantwich schools are to host a workshop to help parents keep youngsters safe from the dangers of the internet.

The Nantwich Education Partnership (NEP) is to stage the one-off CEOP event at Wyche Primary School.

Specialists from the police-led national CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection) agency will be leading the workshop.

They will be advising on how to keep hundreds of youngsters in the town safe when using laptops, games consoles, smart phones and tablets they receive this Christmas.

Andrew Ross (pictured), Millfields Primary headteacher and chair of NEP, said: “We believe it is important for parents to have access to information to help to protect their children and young people.

“As you would protect your child in the real world, you will want to make sure that they are safe whatever they are doing.

“Like learning to cross the road, online safety skills are skills for life.

“If your child understands the risks and can make sensible and informed choices online, they can get the most from the internet and stay safe whilst doing so – particularly from those people who might seek them out to harm them.”

The one-hour workshop takes place on Tuesday January 14 at 7pm at Wyche Primary and Nursery School, Manor Road.

No children are permitted to attend the workshop as sensitive issues will be discussed.

Let your school know by Friday January 10 if you wish to attend.
