Nantwich Town boss Danny Johnson has revealed how abuse from fans has made him question his future at the Weaver Stadium.

Johnson spoke out after a small minority of supporters targeted him during Nantwich’s 2-2 draw with league leaders Skelmersdale.

The Dabbers have shown a marked improvement in recent weeks in terms of results and pushing for the play-offs is still a target in 2014.

But he branded abusive fans as “ridiculous” and reaffirmed his commitment to the club.

“I’m really disappointed with some of the supporters who were getting on my case when we were 2-1 up against the top-of-the-league side.

“I’ve questioned a few things if I’m honest because I’m 2-1 up, I work my socks off all week for this football club, and I’ve got supporters there shouting the odds at me and that’s really disappointing for me.

“What more can we do? I’ve got people screaming and shouting and I’m trying to do my best for their football club.

“I’m passionate, I want to win more than probably every supporter of this football club because it’s my team.

“I think this football club’s got to realise where we’re at. The expectations have to be lowered, because the expectation isn’t that we should be competing at the top of the table although I would like us to be.

“But some of the shouts some of the supporters have aimed down is absolutely ridiculous and I’ll be honest – I’ve questioned myself at the football club.”

Johnson said no one could question the players’ determination as the side has fought back from going behind on a number of occasions this season.

“There’s no question about this team’s resilience and desire and determination to win football matches.

“The thing is they’ve got to start being better in the last third when it matters.

“I want to be winning games 1-0 not having to score two at home to come back and win 2-1.

“That is a real disappointment but we’re moving forward and that’s what the supporters need to understand.”

You are doing a great job Danny !! It is tempting to say that if these so called “supporters” (supporters of what?, cannot be of the team surely?) we’re to be actually playing then they could respect the challenges ahead, because they are not actual players they cannot, end of !!
