Young football stars from Crewe Alexandra dropped by to boost poorly children facing Christmas in Leighton Hospital.
Crewe Alex’s Under 18s joined ex manager Dario Gradi MBE to visit the child and adolescent unit of the hospital.
The in-form Under 18s, who have played for the club since aged 8, wanted to give something to those in the community not so fortunate.
The players brought along souvenirs and merchandise donated by the club and spent an afternoon chatting to children and parents while handing out gifts.
Dario, now director of football at Gresty Road, said: “This initiative came wholly from the players.
“They have given up their time to spend with the children and we look forward to doing more in the future.”
Sue Palin, housekeeper for the unit, added: “Our young patients were thrilled with the team spending time with them.
“It genuinely gives parents and patients a real boost, especially at this time of year.”
