Budding chefs at a Nantwich school have been taking part in Jamie Oliver’s “Food Revolution”!

Pupils at Wyche Primary and Nursery School joined forces with children around the world to take part in a record-breaking cookery lesson.

Schools in 121 countries took part in the day, which aimed to set a record for the most participants in a cookery lesson in 24 hours.

With the help of Nantwich-based cookery firm Kidzkitchen, the children pulled on their aprons to make healthy rainbow salad wraps as part of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day 2014.

They watched a video of Jamie showing how to make a tasty dish before heading off to make their own versions.

Tracey Cooke, who runs Kidzkitchen, said: “The day was a huge success.

“The children thoroughly enjoyed creating their own rainbow salad wraps.

“They learnt how to grate vegetables and create salad dressings. More importantly, they learned that cooking is fun.”

Wyche teaching assistant Emma Bird added: “We were delighted to be able to participate in this world wide cookery lesson.

“It was just a shame Jamie Oliver wasn’t here in person to help the children!”

Headteacher Wei Lee said: “Many of the children were telling me about vegetables they had never tried before and were surprised that they liked them.

“Kidzkitchen provided all ingredients for free. The children were provided with trays to take the rainbow salad wraps home, but the children loved them so much they were guzzled up before they’d left the hall!”
