Enterprising pupils from a Nantwich primary school have helped raise £2,400 for two life-saving charities.
Each class at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School was given a £5 budget with the aim of raising as much money as possible.
And youngsters used various schemes and events, including making and selling things and a disco.
Pupils raised £2,400 in all which they split between two charities chosen by children – St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Now St Anne’s has been selected to take part in the St Luke’s art project for 2014, which will see six pupils invited to the hospice to learn simple hand massage and painting with day care patients.
Headteacher of St Anne’s Hazel Brown said: “St Anne’s is very proud to have been invited to join in the St Luke’s art project.
“We are looking forward to getting involved with both the staff and patients, and we are very grateful for this opportunity.”
Claire Langston, director of income generation at St Luke’s, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to the pupils at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, who have done a brilliant job in fundraising.
“Raising such a substantial amount from a budget of just £5 for each class is very impressive.
“As a result of all their hard work, we are delighted to invite some of the pupils to join our school project.”
