Max Harrop of Nantwich Town, scored winner against Halesowen Town

Nantwich Town midfielder Max Harrop has apologised to Dabbers fans for his midweek sending off.

Harrop saw red midway through the first half of Nantwich’s 1-0 defeat at home to Skelmersdale.

Dabbers dominated the game even down to 10-men, but couldn’t find a way back into the match.

Harrop said: “I haven’t stopped thinking about what I did.

“I let down the players, the manager, the directors, my mum, my dad and my girlfriend but more importantly you, the supporters of Nantwich Town Football Club.

“The lads did everything they could to win the game but I left them with a mountain to climb and I can’t tell you how sorry I am.

“I now owe everyone at Nantwich Town and I want to prove to you all that I am truly sorry.

“I promise that my behaviour will improve and it will never happen again.

“I give no excuse, it was poor from me and I agree with the disciplinary action the club has taken against me.

“This is a turning point in my football career and I don’t want to feel like I feel now ever again.”

Nantwich boss Danny Johnson will have Harrop available for tomorrow’s visit of Stamford to the Weaver Stadium, as his ban does not start until two weeks after the incident.

And on the red card, Johnson said: “Obviously we are disappointed with the incident.

“But we have put that behind us now.

“I said to the lads afterwards that I am proud of them because what they did for 70 minutes with 10 men was absolutely magnificent to a man.”

Johnson also gave special praise to forward Harry Clayton.

“He was absolutely outstanding. That is the best performance I have seen from him in a Nantwich shirt,” added Johnson.

Kick off tomorrow is 3pm.

Adults £10, concessions £7, children £3. Free admission for under 11s accompanied by paying adult.

What an over-the-top apology! You wonder how he’s going to react when something really bad happens?
