Key Nantwich Town marksman Aaron Burns could be about to sign for Conference North side Chorley.
Burns rejoined the Dabbers this season and his goals have again been crucial for the Evo-Stik Premier League side.
But now Chorley boss Garry Flitcroft is speaking to Burns about a possible move to the league above as the Lancashire outfit chase promotion.
A spokesman for Nantwich Town said: “Garry Flitcroft asked Danny on Monday for permission to speak to Aaron Burns and as Aaron is not a contracted player, the club granted this request.
“After speaking with Aaron he has expressed his desire to test himself at playing in the Conference North and feels it would be a good opportunity for him as Chorley are chasing a play off spot.
“He will meet with Garry in the near future and we fully expect him to sign for them.
“Obviously Aaron is a player we ideally wouldn’t want to lose and is someone who has made a significant contribution to the club, but should he elect to move to Chorley, we wish him well.”
It would be another blow to the Dabbers who last night agreed to allow defender Adam Jones (pictured, below) leave by mutual consent.
The central defender signed for Nantwich in May last year, but has battled with injury problems this campaign.
“The club can confirm that Adam Jones has left the club by mutual consent,” the spokesman added.
“The club would like to thank him for his service to the club and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
Johnson is currently working on sourcing replacements.
Heard that the Nantwich squad were caught playing football with a Hedgehog, however, there will be no prosecutions because by the time the RSPCA got there, the Hedgehog was 3 – 0 up!
