Malbank School pupils check out South Cheshire College courses

Pupils from Malbank School in Nantwich spent a day at South Cheshire College to see what they could be doing after leaving school.

Year 10 students turned their hands to hairdressing, hospitality and catering, health and social care and IT in the practical sessions.

The visit was co-ordinated by the college’s school liaison team and students were able to choose different options during the day, talk to tutors and look around the college campus in Crewe.

High school pupils from across the region attend taster sessions and take part in college visits throughout the year to make decisions about their next step when they leave school.

Mike Finney, director of admissions, advice and marketing at South Cheshire College, said: “We were delighted to welcome the group from Malbank and hopefully, all the pupils who attended gained an extremely positive experience.

“For many of the group, this was the first time they had visited our campus so it gave them a better idea of what to expect if they choose South Cheshire College as their next step.”

School leavers who finish their GCSEs this summer can still apply for full time A-Level and vocational programmes starting this September.

Young people who are not sure what to do next after school and want to find out more about college courses can attend an advice evening at South Cheshire College this Wednesday July 1 (5pm-7.30pm).

Mike added: “There may be a number of school leavers who are still undecided about what to do next after leaving school.

“The advice evening in July is an opportunity for school leavers to come and discuss their options and gain the help and advice they need.”
