Nantwich Town continued their pre-season preparations with a 4-2 victory away at Kidsgrove Athletic.
The Dabbers, in their new away kit, were on top early on when Matty Kosylo nodded them in front on 13 minutes.
But a minute later, the hosts were level when Ross Davidson capitalised on hesitant defending in the box to tap in.
Both teams looked to attack, but Nantwich continued to pose the greater threat before the break.
Lewis Short had a gaol disallowed, while Matt Bell and Kosylo had further chances well saved.
Nine minutes before the break, Speed was brought down in the box. Kosylo fired home the spot-kick for 2-1.
And Kosylo’s eventful day continued two minutes after the restart, when he fired home a fine third from outside the box.
Then, a few minutes later the hat-trick hero turned villain when he was red-carded for a challenge.
That setback didn’t hamper the Dabbers, though, as Phil Parkinson’s men made it 4-1 10 minutes later through substitute PJ Hudson.
Burznyski made some excellent stops in the Nantwich goal as Kidsgrove looked to make their numerical advantage count.
Player coach Danny Griggs made a second half appearance from the bench as Nantwich continued to create chances of their own.
The hosts pulled a goal back in the 81st minute through Jordan Peach.
Thornton proved a rock at the back for Nantwich as they repelled further attacks to keep the final score 4-2 at Novus Stadium.
Nantwich Town are next in action on Tuesday August 4, with a visit to Northwich Victoria (at Witton Albion). Kick-off is 7.45pm.
