Nantwich Town’s eagerly awaited “Non League Day” match at home to Hyde United has been called off.
The decision was made after the FA announced the cup fixture between Northwich Victoria and Hyde United had to be replayed.
It means the Dabbers no longer have a fixture this Saturday October 10 – which was designated as National Non League Day.
A spokesman for the club said: “Nantwich Town would like to apologise to all supporters who were planning on attending the fixture and we would like to thank them for their understanding about the situation.
“We’d like at this point to state our extreme disappointment and frustration at being forced to postpone a game by the FA at such short notice.
“Saturday 10th October is National Non League day and Nantwich Town were expecting a large crowd to attend and had promoted the event heavily, as had Stoke City and Crewe Alexandra on our behalf.
“We did try and hold a rearranged fixture but with only two days’ notice this wasn’t possible.
“Once again we apologise to those fans who planned on attending.”
Nantwich Town were hoping to return to winning ways after two games without a victory.
They battled to a 1-1 draw away at Halesowen Town on Tuesday night, thanks to a last-gasp equaliser by Matty Kosylo.
They remain in second place in Evo-Stik Premier League, four points behind pace-setters Blyth Spartans.
Nantwich Town will next be in action at the Weaver Stadium on Tuesday October 13 at home to Matlock Town.
Kick off is 7.45pm.
