Father Christmas at the Cancer Research UK Christmas Fair

The annual Cancer Research UK ‘Christmas Fair’ has taken place at Wistaston Memorial Hall in Wistaston, writes Jonathan White.

The event was organised by the Crewe and Nantwich Support Group for Cancer Research UK.

There were numerous stalls selling gifts, plants, books, DVDs, cakes, cheese, and Christmas cards, along with a Teddy Tombola and an efficient Tea Room serving drinks and snacks.

The children were excited to speak to Father Christmas and receive a present from him.

£3,715.53 was raised at the event for Cancer Research UK.

Crewe and Nantwich Support Group chairman John Pass said: “We thank everyone for their support.

“The people of Wistaston have once again come out in large numbers to support Cancer Research UK.”

Whilst the Wistaston Christmas Fair is for a fantastic cause, and having been to this event for the past few years, I think it is about time that Father Christmas is smartened up.

Having seen many Father Christmases with my family, the Wistaston Santa is the scruffiest outfit I have seen. His suit looks old, grubby and threadbare.

There also needs to be more games / tombolas and stalls for the kids, as there was just one Tombola for Teddybears. Each year the stalls are the same, fresh ideas are sometimes needed.

So come on Wistonians, lets have a smarter Santa for next year, more (and different stalls) and lets raise more money for a wonderful charity.
