Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity has reached the £850,000 milestone as it bids to raise £1 million for a new MRI scanner.
Generous individuals, companies, groups and societies have helped to raise funds for the charity through fundraising events and donations.
The appeal is set to run for another six months to buy the scanner which will operate from Leighton Hospital.
Now the charity bosses are calling on local communities in South Cheshire to become “superheroes” and help raise the remaining £150,000.
Laura Riddle, Charity Manager, said: “I cannot thank each and every one of the fundraisers enough for all of their generous donations and support.
“We are delighted to have already raised an incredible £850,000 to take us well over three quarters of the way there, but we still need help to reach our target and purchase the additional MRI scanner at Leighton Hospital.
“With just six months of the appeal remaining, we are more determined than ever to achieve our target of £1,000,000 – and we know this is possible with the help of the community!”
The charity is interested in golfers, UK trekkers, runners and fashion show goers among many other interests.
The current MRI scanner operates at full capacity from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week with 30 patients a day being scanned.
