Kier Construction has handed over the new £15million Lifestyle Centre in Crewe to owners Cheshire East Council.
A giant golden key was presented to Councillor Janet Clowes, Cabinet member for health and wellbeing, by Kier project manager Wayne Blair.
The Lifestyle Centre has two swimming pools, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, and an adaptable sports hall.
It is also designed to provide a community hub offering day-care facilities for people with special needs, including a sensory room and garden.
It will also house the town’s library and a café.
The community hub will be run by Cheshire East Council, while the sports and leisure section of the centre will be operated by Everybody Sport and Recreation www.facebook.com/crewelifestylecentre
The centre, off Prince Albert Street, will open to the public early April.
