ryan jackson, new Nantwich Town signing

Nantwich Town new signing Ryan Jackson made a stunning impact after scoring five minutes into his debut.

Winger Jackson starred as the Dabbers opened their pre-season campaign with a 4-1 win away at Alsager Town.

Jackson has signed a dual registration agreement to allow him to play for both the Dabbers and his club last season, 1874 Northwich.

And he wasted no time in his first Dabbers friendly at the Wood Park Stadium.

Five minutes into the game, he won the ball off an Alsager player before hitting a stunning 25-yard strike into the top right hand corner of the goal.

Later in the first half, he put in a superb cross for trialist Jonny Kapendi to bundle home.

Nantwich boss Phil Parkinson was impressed with his performance.

He said: “That’s why we brought Ryan to the club, he’s all about potential.

“I’ve known him a long long time.

“The reason I like Ryan is because of how quickly he’s come in a short space of time.

“Ryan was playing at Lostock Gralam in the Cheshire League about five seasons ago.

“He bumped up to Barnton and he caught my eye there again.

“He stepped up again at 1874 Northwich, did really well and that’s why we’ve offered him the opportunity.”

Parky was also keen to thank 1874 Northwich for allowing Jackson the chance to play for the Dabbers this season.

And after his debut goal, the manager added: “He’s a player that does that, he’s an instinctive player, he wouldn’t have thought about that, that’s just happened, that’s how Ryan plays.

“If we can work on him and make him a little bit more consistent, we think he’s got a bright future.”

Against Alsager, the Dabbers were 2-0 up in seven minutes when Sean Cooke’s deflected shot wrong-footed the home keeper.

Former Nantwich favourite Michael Lennon pulled a goal back for Alsager, curling an effort past Parton.

Cooke continued to pull the strings for Nantwich, and rattled the bar with a fine effort.

Jackson’s cross was bundled in for 3-1 before the break, and Nantwich completed the scoring in the second half thanks to Cooke’s fine free-kick.

Nantwich squad:
1. Dave Parton, 2. Mackenzie Faulkner (trialist), 3. Ibou Touray, 4. Louis Bergin (trialist), 5. Ben Harrison, 6. Sam Hall(c), 7. Ryan Jackson, 8. Sean Cooke, 9. Cory Williams (trialist), 10. The Dabbers are next in action tomorrow (July 12), when they return to the Weaver Stadium for their first home pre-season game. They play Conference North side Curzon Ashton, kick off 7.30pm.
