Nantwich Food Festival organisers are calling for volunteers to help at this year’s event.
The festival, which is run entirely by volunteers, is set to take place in September.
They carry out a variety of roles – welcoming the public to issuing advice and information.
Many help with health and safety, others keep car parks flowing and pavements free of litter.
Volunteers also work with many exhibitors that line the bustling Nantwich streets.
They manage chef demonstration marquees, and support music stages and children’s entertainers.
Many of the volunteers return each year, and there is a social scene where members meet up across the year.
Around 70 volunteers ensured last year’s festival ran smoothly.
But the organising committee wants enthusiastic people who enjoy contributing to community initiatives.
Volunteer coordinator Jo Lowry said: “The Nantwich Food Festival just couldn’t happen without our band of willing volunteers.
“It’s a great opportunity to join our friendly community, do something for Nantwich, make new friends, and have great fun at the same time.
“Being a volunteer can be very flexible, and they can help for two hours, all day, or even the whole weekend.
“We love our town and love being part of what makes it special.
“If you have a little spare time and want to be part of our success, why not join us and get involved.”
The Cheshire food extravaganza sees many local companies getting involved, with 40,000 visitors expected.
Local company Rhino Safety will be supporting the health and safety side of the festival.
Rhino Safety director Simon Walter said: “With such a large event, the safety of the volunteers, stall-holders, and of course the attending public is of paramount importance.
“Implementing effective training and documentation ensures the event’s Health and Safety standards are high, which in turn ensures that everyone involved can safely relax and enjoy one of the country’s leading food and drink festivals.”
Anyone interested in helping out is invited to attend a Volunteer Open Evening at Aroma Café Bar in Nantwich on Thursday July 28, starting at 6pm.
This year’s festival will take place from September 2-4.
