Nantwich Town returned to winning ways with a fine performance at Whitby – crowned by an Osebi Abadaki hat-trick.
Both sides hit the woodwork in a tight first half with each team pushing for a breakthrough.
The hosts took the lead against the run of play on 55 minutes when Dale Hopson cut inside and fired a fine shot into the corner.
The Dabbers did not let that get in their way, though, and came storming back – with two goals in two minutes.
Abadaki levelled the scores within a minute of Whitby’s effort.
And then he burst through four minutes later behind a static home defence to fire Nantwich into the lead on 60 minutes.
Whitby pushed for an equaliser towards the end of the game, but the Dabbers hit them with the sucker punch in the 80th minute when Abadaki completed his hat-trick.
Victory moved Nantwich up to ninth place in Evo-Stik Premier League on 34 points, with games in hand on the sides above.
It completed an excellent 24 hours for Nantwich who found out yesterday they had been re-instated to the FA Trophy.
Shaw Lane AFC, who had beaten the Dabbers in the previous round, were charged with breaching FA Trophy Rule 15(d) in relation to playing a player who was not eligible.
The breach was found proven and Shaw Lane’s place in the First Round Proper was awarded to Nantwich Town
Nantwich’s FA Trophy game at home to Lincoln City is subject to an appeal being lodged by Shaw Lane which must be received by The FA by 10am Monday (December 12).
A further announcement will be made as soon as final arrangements for the fixture are confirmed.
